2016 IHSAA Individual State Champion

Senior Holly Anderson fired a 1-under-par 71 Saturday (Oct. 1) to claim the individual state championship and lead the Columbus North girls golf team to a third-place team finish in the 44th annual IHSAA State Finals at Prairie View Golf Club.

Anderson’s round, combined with her first-round score of 75 that started Friday and concluded Saturday morning because of weather delays and darkness, gave her a two-round aggregate of 2-over 146. That score was two strokes better than Chesterton sophomore Elyse Stasil.

“I gained a lot of confidence after winning sectional and regional, so I came into (the State Finals) thinking I could finish in the top 10 or maybe even the top five,” Anderson said. “Then after a first-round 75, that gave me even more confidence.”
